Bei der Festigung sozialer Bindungen spielt das Lausen eine große Rolle. Anfangs lausen sich zwei Mädchen gegenseitig. Ein hinzukommender junger Mann wird kurz gelaust. Danach fordert ein anderer die beiden Mädchen zum Lausen auf, und es entwickelt sich eine längere Interaktion, in deren Verlauf der junge Mann gelaust und gekrault wird. Auch die beiden Mädchen erweisen einander die Gunst, obgleich es leichte Anzeichen einer Rivalität gibt.
The film shows first grooming interactions between two adolescent girls. Then a young man is groomed for a short time. Another adolescent boy shows grooming invitation towards a girl by head-to-head-rubbing and pulling with his hand the hand of one of the girls, resulting in a longer interaction of hetero-sexual grooming. This behaviour plays an important role in becoming familiar with each other during pair formation and serves to fasten and maintain a friendly relationship. In this context, the ritualized form of delousing, the Kraulen (cannot be translated, perhaps as gently fondling the headhair) is of special importance as shown by the example of Mombuka and Mongatschu. It is also demonstrated how moments of tension (or jealousy?) for the favour of the young man can arise between these two girls which may lead to frustration.
