Skorpion. Beide Partner halten sich gegenseitig an ihren Palpenscheren fest und gehen dabei vor und zurück. Das Männchen sticht mit seinem Stachel in die Gelenkhaut eines Palpus des Weibchens, setzt eine Spermatophore am Boden ab und zieht die Partnerin nach vorne, bis sie das Sperma aus der Spermatophore mit der Geschlechtsöffnung aufnehmen kann.
The film shows the mating behaviour of the scorpion Euscorpius italicus Herbst. During the mating dance the male grasps the female's chelae and steps forward, backward, and sideward and occasionally touches the female's venter. Then, he stings into the intersegmental membrane of one of her palpal chelae, deposits the spermatophore, and pulls the female over it, first using only his palpal chelae, later also his chelicerae. Immediately afterwards, the female is pushed backwards. Thereby the spermatophore opens and the sperm is taken up.
