Die Stadtbibliothek Heidenheim – preisgekröntes Gebäude im Herzen der Stadt

Dieser Artikel beschreibt den Neubau, das Konzept und den Erfolg der Stadtbibliothek Heidenheim. Auf dem ehemaligen Gefängnisgelände an der Schnittstelle zwischen historischer Innenstadt und der Nachkriegsbebauung wurde Ende 2017 der Neubau der Stadtbibliothek eröffnet. Gemäß ihrer geografischen Lage hat die Stadtbibliothek sich schnell auch in der Mitte der Stadtgesellschaft etabliert und ist so zum beliebten Treffpunkt für Groß und Klein geworden. Neben dem riesigen Angebot an physischen und digitalen Medien stehen die hohe Aufenthaltsqualität im Gebäude sowie das vielfältige Veranstaltungsangebot im Mittelpunkt.
Abstract: This article describes the new library building in Heidenheim, its concept and success. The new public library is located on the former prison site where the old town with its historical buildings and the post-war architecture meet and was officially opened at the end of 2017. Equal to its geographical location the library also positioned itself in the middle of the city society and quickly became a popular meeting place for individuals young and old. Besides the vast selection of physical and digital media the ambient quality and the wide range of events are also of great importance.
