Comminution of Wood: Single‐Particle Breakage

Abstract: An essential element for the sustainable use of renewable resources is an efficient comminution process. For efficient comminution processes, detailed knowledge of the fracturing processes is necessary. Therefore, single‐particle comminution under impact stress was investigated, and the influence of the moisture content and the particle size in single‐particle comminution of beech wood is described. The extent of applicability of the existing models to wood, for modeling the breakage probability function for brittle materials, was investigated.
