Acquired Storage Pool Deficency of Circulating Platelets in the Cafes of Pic and in Some Cases of Atherosclerosis
In some cases of atherosclerosis as well as in acute and chronic DIC, an acquired storaqe pool deficiency of the platelets developes due to the fact that a release reaction takes place in the platelets durinq circulation. It has been shown morphologically and ultrastructurally, that the platelets are in the activated form during circulation. Also as determined biochemically, these platelets have reduced levels of ADP, PF4 and platelet fibrinogen. The value of these observations in diagnosis and in the control of treatment is discussed.
