Lo ʿod sefer ʿal Shoʾah
Memoirs of a Jew born in Radom, Poland, in 1932 to the Gutstadt family. After the Nazi occupation he and his father fled to the Soviet zone, but returned to Radom in 1940. In April 1941 he was interned in the ghetto with his parents and younger brother. In August 1942 ca. 25,000 Jews were deported and killed. Gat and his family hid and remained with ca. 5,000 Jews in the ghetto, which became a labor camp. In fall 1943 they fled and lived near Warsaw with Polish families until the end of the war. His father, who took part in the Polish uprising of 1944, was killed by a Polish thief in June 1945. He and his brother emigrated to Eretz Israel in 1946. The memoirs are interspersed with general information on the Holocaust. (From the Bibliography of the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism)
