How we are organised

A competence network of 18 cultural and knowledge institutions throughout Germany are jointly responsible for the development of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek (German Digital Library).

This competence network consists of three bodies: the General Assembly, the Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees. The Berlin office of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek supports the bodies of the competence network and is responsible for the operational business.

The General Assembly

The founding members of the competence network were nominated by mutual agreement between the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs, the Municipal Top Associations and the Federal Government and appointed by the Board of Trustees. In principle, further members can and should be included in the competence network.

The decision on the admission of new members is made by the Board of Trustees of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors represents the Competence Network and the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek to the outside world and consists of up to three persons and their deputies.

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees supervises the competence network. The Board of Trustees of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek consists of four members nominated by the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the States and the Federal Government. The Federal Association of Municipal Top Associations sends a representative of the German City Congress.

Administrative office

The administrative office of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek Competence Network is set up at the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz in Berlin.
