Coding da Vinci Lower Rhine Country 2021: Scholarship Update

By Andrea Lehr (Coding da Vinci)

While the application deadline for four new scholarships after the award ceremony of CdV Ost³ 2022 in Dresden is already approaching, our scholarship holders from the Nieder.Rhein.Land 2021 hackathon are still busy coding and developing. Two projects, namely the "Tickets for Time Travelers" and "Pallenberg Slides - an Illustrated VR Experience", have announced their interim results, while the "Bilderbazar" will be presenting itself at re:publica at the beginning of June.

The "Pallenberg Slides" project is also making good progress. The concept for the drawn VR experience has entered a new phase with the data provider, the Museum des Aquazoos Löbbecke (Löbbecke Museum of the Aquazoo), and with professorial support from the MSD Münster School of Design, where the scholarship holder is studying. For example, all parties involved are working to implement the complex project to the extent that it can be experienced in a VR station in the Aquazoo. All information about the projects can be found on our scholarship page.

The scholarship project "Bilderbazar" will be presented in a "Hands On"session at re:publica. In addition, the two-member team was able to secure a digital residency at the Deutsches Museum (German Museum) following the scholarship. With the help of machine learning, the technically ambitious application extracts images from the historical fashion journal "Der Bazar" and enriches them for the research community. At the same time, a digital paper theatre is being created with which more playfully interested users can enjoy the data.

As mentioned at the beginning, all team members of the amazing 17 projects from CdV Ost³ can now apply for a scholarship. The application deadline is 12 June 2022. All information can be found here.
