Petra Gall: Photographer, Activist, Motorbike Enthusiast
Born in Saarland, Petra Gall moved to West Berlin at the beginning of the 1980s. There she taught herself photography, founded a photo agency and from then on worked for newspapers and magazines such as taz, Zitty and Tip. A lesbian herself, Petra Gall captured the lesbian scene in West Berlin as well as the music and underground scene. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, she devoted herself to touring reportage, travelled through the former Soviet Union on a motorbike and photographed the first Christoper Street Day in St. Petersburg in 1992. In the Deutsche DIgitale Bibliothek, you can find Petra Gall's photographs of concerts and bands. From Tina Turner and Ice-T, to Chuck Berry and Rio Reiser, to Hole and Marianne Faithfull - everyone will find something to suit their (musical) taste.
